GPT-5.6 just got cheaper
OpenAI cut Luna by 80% and Terra by 20%. Revolut Standard now includes ChatGPT Go for three months. And Bolt became the ride you can plan inside ChatGPT. Small week for “one AI app to rule them all.”

Three OpenAI-adjacent stories landed in the same window: API prices moved, a bank started bundling ChatGPT Go, and a European ride-hailing app showed up in ChatGPT’s connector catalog. Here’s the practical version for vibe coders — with the numbers, the caveats, and one ridiculous personal test at the end.
1. GPT-5.6 Luna and Terra got a real price cut
On July 30, 2026, OpenAI published Advancing the price-performance frontier with GPT-5.6. Short version: they are passing efficiency gains to API customers on the mid and low tiers.
- Luna — about 80% cheaper
- Terra — about 20% cheaper
- Sol — flagship price unchanged
New API rates (per 1M tokens, short context, from that announcement):
| Model | Was (in / out) | Now (in / out) | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| GPT-5.6 Sol | $5 / $30 | $5 / $30 | Unchanged |
| GPT-5.6 Terra | $2.50 / $15 | $2 / $12 | −20% |
| GPT-5.6 Luna | $1 / $6 | $0.20 / $1.20 | −80% |
If you are still catching up on the Sol / Terra / Luna lineup itself, start with our earlier note: GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra & Luna.
Why it matters for vibe coding: Luna at twenty cents input is suddenly a serious default for high-volume classify / extract / draft / route loops. Terra is the everyday workhorse that got a bit less painful. Sol stays the “pay for one clean pass” option when retries cost more than tokens.
2. Revolut Standard now includes ChatGPT Go for 3 months
Revolut’s pitch this week: a bank should do more than hold money — so Standard plan users can activate ChatGPT Go for three months at no extra cost.
- Higher usage limits than free ChatGPT for rewriting, planning, and follow-ups
- More uploads and image generation than the free tier
- Paid Revolut plans (Plus / Premium / Metal / Ultra) can extend ChatGPT Go further and unlock other bundled subscriptions — T&Cs and fees apply
How eligibility works (read this before you tap Activate)
- You need a 3-month gap since your last active ChatGPT subscription. If you had one recently, wait until three full months have passed since it ended.
- When the complimentary period ends, ChatGPT Go auto-renews at the standard monthly Go rate unless you cancel.
- Revolut points to their Paid Plan Terms, RevPoints / Partnerships T&Cs, and OpenAI Offer T&Cs for Standard.
If you were already shopping for a multi-currency account anyway, this is a neat bundle. If you only want free ChatGPT forever, set a calendar reminder to cancel before renewal.

3. Order a Bolt ride from ChatGPT
OpenAI keeps stacking connectors so ChatGPT feels less like a chat box and more like a superapp. The latest mobility move: Bolt launched ride-hailing inside ChatGPT (July 29, 2026) — first major ride-hailing push through ChatGPT across the EU, UK, Norway, Switzerland, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Bolt’s wider markets.
How to try it
- In ChatGPT, open the apps / plugins directory and enable Bolt.
- Ask in plain language — e.g. “Find me a Bolt to Budapest Parliament.”
- Review categories, fare estimates, ETA, and suggested pickup.
- Confirm — ChatGPT hands you off to the Bolt app with trip details filled in.
- Pay in Bolt with your usual card / wallet. In-chat payments are planned later, not at launch.
4. Fun: ChatGPT says I’m MacGyver
I asked ChatGPT one line, no context dump:
“Based on your experience talking with me, please name a movie or TV series character who resembles me. Only give me the name.”
It thought for a couple of seconds and answered:
MacGyver
If your model ever calls you MacGyver, send the screenshot. We collect these now.
Bottom line
- API builders: re-check Luna/Terra unit economics — especially batch and agent swarms.
- ChatGPT users on Revolut Standard: free Go trial is real, but watch the auto-renew and eligibility gap.
- City travellers: Bolt-in-ChatGPT is a nice connector demo of where OpenAI wants the product to go.
